Azhagaga Irukirai..Azhagai Irukirathu !!

I just finished watching this new flim "Azhagai Irukirai Bayamaga Irukirathu" and i wanted to write about it. The first half of the movie was total fun, it would look like the movie was taken just for 'Rowse', but the movie will leave you speechless towards the end. Dialogues towards the end sounded more practical to me. Cheran has selected a good script to bid his money but i doubt if he will get something out of it, good movies hardly makes an impact. I wish this movie will. Some positives of this movie apart from good story and screenplay:

1. Bharath - Excellent and cool. No stupid punch dialogues, done his part really well.
2. Mallika Kapoor - Cuteyyyyyyyyy...i liked her very much...she does the 'Jho' thing in this movie and her name is also 'Jho' in the movie
3. Yuvan - Good background score
4. Rowse Comedy - Wondering what this is?? see the movie, they have done something with cartoons and other stuff. All the songs are picturized just for 'Rowse'.
5. I liked the climax.

Somtimes the lenghty songs might make you feel bored, but then the quick wits and warm emotions have you glued. Give this movie a try..count on me!

Cricket and the Crowd?

Impatience is at its best when the crowd on an Indian ground see their great players fail to deliver. I get sometimes irritated on the crowd behavior when i see people of our country turning on our own players when the support is very much required for them. This is happening from the day i remember in 1996 when Vinod Kambli walked out crying as the Indian Crowd rioted the play just because we are down to 120/8 from 98/2. Match Referee Clive Llyod awarded the match to Sri Lanka, what a shameful way to end a World Cup semi-final Match at Eden Gardens. I know there is very less chance that we would have won that match, but still my mind was still looking for a miracle for us to win. I was frustrated to see crowd behave like this without bothering what the people around the globe will think about the country and thier people.

And now it again happened on the final test against England, the crowd turned against my favorite player Sachin, that too on his home ground. I don't say i was not bothered when the same crowd turned against Ganguly sometime back, but it bothers me much when it comes to Sachin :-). I don't want to see Sachin as a "Outstanding" player like Ganguly now. Then came the statements like "Sachin joins the list of mortals"..c'mon who said Sachin is immortal...he is a very good player just searching for a right time to be among runs. I still feel that he has lot of stuff to do for Indian Cricket..Why is that the crowd which enjoyed watching his scintillating play, cannot stand by him when it really matters for him now. For this matter why is that the crowd never stands by a struggling team and support the players when they fail on the ground. Is it just that we have paid 200 bucks and the player there should win the match? Its not going to happen all the times. Criticisms ..yes they are very much needed ..but it should be constructive otherwise its never gonnu help anyone...and doing stuff like this not only takes the confidence out of the players but also takes away the dignity out of our country.....

First Year - Entry to the Heaven

I wanted to write a whole big story about my college life . Those days will never come back, but no one can stop me from thinking about all those beautiful days and no one will stop you ppl from reading them from me :-))..This could be pretty long take a break in between but don't stop reading this :-)...So here we go, let me start with my first year..

Aug 19, 1999..I was traveling in a bus to Peelamedu from Coimbatore Railway station. One week back if you would have asked me to show Coimbatore in tamilnadu map, I would have scratched my head, but now am in Coimbatore. We came to coimbatore Thursday(18th) morning and took a hotel near the railway station. Three people came with me, my dad, my chithapa, and my uncle, looked like am guarded all the time. My appa might have thought to take the tension out of me and said, "C'mon ppl, lets go for a movie". He does this all the time when we go out..he will take us to the movie and he will sleep in between the movie, he should be very tired of managing me :-). We all went to the KG theatre.."Kadalar Dhinam" was screened that time. The movie should be running house full and we didn't get a ticket, we came back. I was travelling in the bus thinking i should see the movie somehow, how stupid I am to think about seeing the movie while traveling to the college for the first time. Finally I came to the college, the building was not the way i imagined..i expected a building that they show in the movies...it looked like a old castle to me.

I just went around the college with my chithapa to see the places inside the college. We came near the reception and Wow!! i saw a computer!...The first time am seeing a computer with a 'mouse'. I have seen few computers in my chithapa's office. Those are UNIX systems(i know it now) and basically dumb terminals. But this one is lively and with the great 'Windows' operating system . I got excited on see it and i wanted to use the mouse to see how it works. Aaahioo...i clicked on something which read 'e' on the screen and a window opened up. We don't know what to do and then my chithapa managed to click on the 'X' and we thought we should walk out from there before someone gets us for doing something to the computer. I finished few formalities of filling the form, paying tuition fee and the money for the semester books.

The Hall of fame

We were all taken to a Big Hall for filling out some forms. I bet no one in my class would ever forget this hall in their lifetime, and i am sure at least guys wont :-). I entered the hall and i was asked to sit on a line where all the ECE folks sat. There was confusion all around and i was totally unaware whats going. It all stopped when a sweet voice of a lady said 'Please listen..". I raised my head to see a beautiful girl with a sandal color saree talking with a soft voice. She was giving instructions to fill out the form and nothing went into my head, i got totally carried away. After all am an human, even King Kong dies for beauty and am no exception. Damn..i missed all that she said now i have to ask someone to help me out in filling the form. I called the person in front of me, he introduced himself as Dilip Naveen Rasiah. What a longest name i thought!..The longest name after Arnold Schwarzenegger. Everything seemed to be new for me.. guys talking in English..guys neatly dressed and polished shoes..girls in shirt and pants..everything was new to me. At last i found a old one, my schoolmate Mani sitting beside me not bothering to see me at all even though he knows am seeing him. We were thick friends till 10 grade and after that we had a fight and he never spoke to me then. I got to know lot of names like Aravinth, Parthiban, Dilip etc. before we came out of the Hall.

Mr. Keshavamoorthy was giving us the orientation with a very serious face. He actually shouted at us for making noise and warned us that the college wont really appreciate students doing like this. I was thinking him as a very strict lecturer until i saw him dance with us on our first Industrial Visit :-)

The G(entleman's) Block!!

I got admission to the Hostel and my room number was G-140, we walked around the Big ground to reach the G-Block. I was excited to see a wonderful ground and i started dreaming about playing cricket there :-). My Chithapa was asking the senior who guided us to the G-Block if 'G' is supposed to mean 'Gaol'..and got a instant reply as 'You got it right on the first time'. He then told us the rules such as first year ppl cannot come out after 6.30, should not shout, cannot see TV after 7pm, cannot go to the place where the seniors are etc etc., So it really sounded like a jail to us and biggest worry all that time is that i cannot be able to play in that big ground in the first year:-(.

G-Block was amazing to see the first time. Pretty clean, in fact floor cleaned and polished with cow's dung, a tradition in coimbatore i suppose. Mess was absolutely decorated and food items are all well arranged. We went to room #140 and i was Mani's Bag and i was excited to be a room partner with my school mate and i know he wont be to happy :-). Then came Mr. Aravinth with his big VIP suitcase, he was all geared up and full of enthu all the way. He said he has some of his schoolmates in here and introduced Viswa and we were searching for Vinoth and found him introducing himself to others as "Hi am Vinoth from Thirunelvelli!"..Bond's way of introducing himself to others:-). Then we went to have food in the canteen and my dad was very impressed with the food not knowing this is a trap for the first timers :-). They have made the first day food really good, i wished it would have been great if it was like this all along.

Monday morning..you have to look at the crowd before the bathroom at 5am in the morning, it was big line. And this is the first and last time i saw a crowd before the bathroom in the hostel :-)

Mine, Machine and the Classroom

So it Monday and am going to the class for the first time. First day we were taken to the workshop..Oops too hectic for a Monday...need to work with filing, carpentry, molding which actually made us look like miners, welding..what not....we have to stand the whole day as the afternoon session is on Engineering Drawing. The first day of the week is always tiresome for us...we look more like mechanics than Engineers on Mondays. I was initially given roll as 99BL17 which later got changed to 99BL20.

Tuesday morning first classroom session...its English!!!.. Mam asked each one us to give a intro and tell us our Hr sec. English marks..Good to see few interesting intro like....'Don't call me Deviyanai..call me Deivanai'...'Besides scoring centums in CBSE maths, physics and Chemistry...i just got 70 in the tough CBSE English'....cool ones....:-)..i got scared by the English peters by the class ppl and not knowing what to do the next day i woke up at 4am and sat on the chair having my +2 physics Electronics book with me..God 4am in coimbatore at that time was really coooool..and in that misty climate all i can do is to have a blanket over me and sleep in the chair with my +2 physics book with me :-)...From there i continued this habit with all the subject books and at all times :-)

The Y-Block Class room that we had is a real good one not only for listening and for sleeping also. Once all the windows are closed it make itself a mattress:-). Few Staffs that we had during the first year are unforgettable. Notable among them is our beloved sir Mr.Shankar Subramanium. He is a walking Hard Disk. He amazed all of us with the incredible memory that he had..he remembers all our names and place we came from even now....he took attendance just by looking at the class and told the names of the absentees... he even told my 3rd semester mark when i met him on the 5th semester...he really is gifted and so were we. I doubt if i would have cleared the Engineering mechanics paper if anyone else was my lecturer. Other staffs which i could recollect is Snake Sir- Material Science we call him snake as he had a Hissss after all his sentences, Latha mam -C prog, Sridevi mam -Maths I paper, Rajathinakar - Physics, Chemistry - Oops don't ask his name but i cannot forget his tensed face and the way he shouts at us:-).

The G-Block TV Hall

We were never allowed to see the TV initially..but after few months we hardly came out of the TV room...starting from WWF to Starmoives we saw everything...we even had few visitors for seeing Sakthimaan on Saturdays..:-)...All those Saturday night Surya TVs and Friday midnight Sun TVs are the prime times even on semester/internal periods...Nobody would have forgot the Vijay TV surprise premiere on a Saturday ;-)

G-140 and Gang at G-137

What to say about my roomies..real intelligent fellows..i decided not to talk about marks with them once i asked their +2 scores and thought i should belong to some other room. It was a good gang.. Makka(Aravinth's another name) always talked and ruled. Talkers rule the world...he ruled our First Year Batch as our Class Rep. Palaniswamy, a very intelligent guy..i love the accent of his Tamil, typical Irode Tamil. Mani.. enemies turned into friends again, we started talking again and never stopped till now. We have all kinds of mix in First year hostel, we mingled with other branch ppl and G-Block seemed to a perfect place of freshers.

We all were searching for a junk place to pass time and ended up at G-137 where Bun, Dil and Bond stayed ..that became the crowded place for the rest of the year. At least 7-10 ppl which includes deeran, viswa, bond, myself, bun will be there in this room... Great maanga, teasing to the core, IMS Doctors Quarters bird watching through the windows, story telling from Bond, Music from Thilak, bumps to Bun.. you have nothing unavailable in G-137...real entertainer. Dilip must be very angry on us as we never let him study even on the exam times, he used to go to the next room for studying.

Ragging!!!

Our college doesn't have ragging, in fact ours is one college where seniors will keep distance from junior to avoid trouble. In spite of all these our seniors got a chance to rag us...few people were invited to C-Block where our seniors stay and they started ragging us. As usual they asked us to ask their name in the "Senior Senior senior..." fashion. When my turn came i was asked to kiss a Rani mukerjee poster. Damn that's a tough one for a good boy like me :-) and to escape from the ragging i gave a flying kiss to Rani. Thats it Gone!!! i can see few hockey bats coming right at me...they teased me like anything and asked me to kiss the poster..finally i was made to french kiss the poster...Oops i wished the poster could have been a real one..but anyway my ragging got over and they said they will send the photo they took to my parents :-).. Ragging really helps in making friends when its done at a decent level(?!) and i got to know few seniors on that day.

First time Culturals and the Millennium Celebrations

I entered the college auditorium to see my first cultural fest in our college...they huge speakers were screaming "Seniorita..Seniorita.." song when i entered and 6 beautiful girls all with the same kind of costume were performing a dance for this song..then came the "Veerapandi Kotaiyele" songs...Four ppl carried a girl in a palanquin and then girls group danced on the front floors and guys group danced all over the buildings...lighting were ultimate..that was a good show :-)

We are very lucky to celebrate a Millennium in our life time...aren't we? And that too we were really lucky to celebrate that in our college...with lots of fire works ..food ..orchestra..and friends...too good to remember...i was really lucky to be there. They screened Titanic on a Biggg screen...after that we saw the same movie in our G-Block Hostel at 1.00 am...rated and unrated versions on the same day :-).

B'Day Parties

Its feels good to celebrate a b'day in the hostel, friends make it a unforgettable day for you. In our first year few B'day days are even more exciting. Its usual for the B'day person to get bumps till he cries, but for Arnold Aravid the stage was set to make it more exciting. Eggs, tomatoes and all you can name on earth came right on to his head on his B'day. But it doesn't stop there, almost every person took a beating that day. Somebody will just shout a name and you can see the person with that name running around with few people chasing him. The beating continued for more than two hours and the result was almost 25 ppl where caught for an inquiry by the Hostel management. They were warned and left after giving a apology letter. This day was a unforgettable one, from then on the celebrations continued but with silence.

The Chris Game

Chris Game?! what is it? Thanks to Nalieni for describing all of us about the game. I selected my Chris friend from the lot..its Sridevi...but wait ..i don't know who is sridevi at that time :-(....i asked Mr.Bond, the detective to tell me who is sridevi and he helped me out. I should have bored sridevi for not asking her to do anything. And fortunately i didn't get anything to do as well..i was a Chris friend to VJ and she gave me a 'Munch' on a real hungry Monday...thanks to her.. :-)..Our class had a good time while playing the game..the highlight being Deeran was asked to do "Thoppu karnam" and he was caught by our most decent chemistry lecturer...he asked Deeran "Ponnunga munnadi Thoppu karnam poduriye azhingama illa?"..all of us were laughing aloud but the lecturer was actually serious :-))..

Sports and the Cricket Match

Few days after i joined the college i wanted to play something and few of us were running to the physical department...we have to actually go all the way round the huge ground to go the gate...as i was thinking its tiresome i saw a senior jumping on the other gate...Cool that's a nice shortcut we tried the same and as we jumped, a old man walking by called us and asked us to run around the ground 4 times...guess who?? its Mr. Radhakrishnan our princi that time...nice way to get a intro with him.

They conducted a selection for the PSG cricket team from the first year and 6 ppl from our class got selected to the team. I think viswa, vinoth, makka, myself, navanee and Jeram got selected. I thought ECE Rocks!!..We were all geared up for the interbranch cricket tournament, we thought we should be winning as we had 6 player selected for the main cricket team, but somehow we lost badly to the CT branch in the first match itself..we were rocked :-(.

CC - The Chit Chat lab

We had lab sessions for C-programming and we had that in the Computer Center(CC). Working with a computer is very new to me and that too when i comes to programming language am a big zero. I went almost crying when i typed 'ood' instead of 'odd' in my first C-program to find odd numbers and was teased by Lancer Divya and Harini. After few month CC became a cool place to chit chat..ppl started to message other computers using dos message option and for few others its a entertainment box. We just do a find for *.jpg and see all Aishu, Jho and Misc photos and spend time:-)...Sometime later CC administrators started scrutinizing the Floppy disks and the (mis)usage of the system. Myself and Viswa once went to the CC to copy some C-program and took a floppy from some room in the hostel. One of the administrator of the CC just casually asked us to open the floppy and Gosh! that had some adult content in it...I thought ' Ok time to go home'. We actually don't know it contained those stuff but we cannot do anything now. He asked us for the Id card and we told we just took the floppy from some room in the hostel and don't know anything about it. Fortunately he left us just taking away the floppy with him (he could just asked us the floppy instead..we could have given him more:-)).

Exams Atlast

Who cares??!! i should admit that for first few internals exams we were really sincere. After that its last time study, we will study the whole night and we have the mess Tea at 2am and we continue studying...Belive me the mess Tea really kept our stomachs busy and kept us awake all through the night..The best part is we steal the coconuts from the Mess for our after 12.00 snacks..."Pirates of the coconuts" we were:-)...So at last exams were over!! its 'Manis' theatre time!!! :-)))... somehow cleared all the exams...felt a bit sad for the low marks but was really happy that i cleared all of them...

First Year was a good transition of character from a school boy to a college student. G-Block was a perfect place for us to mingle with ppl and to get to know each other. Its really bad that we didnt have the anymore as the management demolished the building for a newer one. I am atleast happy to be a last of few souls to spend a year there, its always a cream on my yummy college life.

Autograph :-)

Tagging!!?? i have never been tagged before coz i have never blogged before :-)...i was reading Devvi's blog and was surprised to see 'I tag Gopi'..A little bug tagging a monster like me??!!! :-)..i was thinking about tagging in WWF( the the only tagging i know) and i was wondering how a small creature like devvi can be a tag team partner for PSG Tech bodybuliders like Ramji, Deeran and me :-)..then i called up devvi and she told me tagging is nothing but Copy/Paste of others thought to suit yours...Wow!! this is easy for me coz am doing this copy/paste for the last 3 damn years:-)

I am all set to write one now...dont run your spell/grammer checker on my blog coz its gonnu throw infinite errors...

Ten Years Ago:

I was young that time :-((

1. I was an average student as always in my school. All i know was to throw my book as soon as i come back from school and run to the ground to play cricket. Never thought about whats going to happen after few years, cared only to ahve 10-15th rank in the progress report.

2. Few things that i wanted to forget happend in my personal life and changed the whole world for me, suddenly i felt like i was left in this world helpless and alone. Somehow managed to clear my 10th grade with 75%. I just had few good friends in my school Mani, Vijil, Sridhar and Anbu.

3. Higher Secoundary started and i am still the same ...playing cricket and having fun in my uncle's Staffs' quarters. I am sure all the moms in that quarters would have scolded me for not letting their kids study.

4. Thought that if you play cricket well, you can change the world around you. Watched all cricket matches that India plays, ofcourse till Sachin gets out.

5. Sudden sense of responsibility came up and i did some studying for my +2 exams. Everyone in my family wanted me to become a doctor, i wonderfully joined my engineering in PSG Tech :-)

Five Years Ago:

1. One good thing i made in my life...Joined PSG Tech...Never knew life is so wonderful and really can bring so much joy to your life. Was doing non-stop nonsense in my hostel. When i felt bored, all i have to do is just to enter any room in my hostel and forget the whole world.

2. Learnt how easy is to score marks..study everying a day before the exam..just get to know the syllabus the previuos day and clear all the exams...Amazing...!!! If someone should have told me this in my school it would have helped me a lot.

3. Lab sessions..Late night movies...Dinner @ aunty mess...shahi grilled chicken...NMB breakfast.... Tech Movies...Cultural hungama...IMS temple...Cricket and Chess...everything with my friends..thought what else i need in life to make it the happiest.

4. Golden Jubliee project...!!i was wondering how the management can comeup with this wonderful idea.. Learnt something ..above all had some good time in the labs with frnds...

5. Got placed in TCS...still my with me 23 of my classmates :-))...i was soo happy to attend the interview with 33 of my class mates...wished everybody to get placed and come with me for work also..

6. After that it alls 'Final Year ..No Fear..' funda. Still played Cricket but not really in the ground...In Deeran's PC!! Playing Brain Lara Cricket and Age Of Empires became a daily activity. Impact lab became the permanent residence for us.. i wish my workplace now to be like impact lab...full of my frnds and mesmerizing fun...

7. Will i ever forget my Final year project?? No way...it just worked only during the project Demo..but the impace lab gave me some sweet frnds for my life....

8. Happy yo be in touch with all my friends after joining TCS...had a great time in Chennai...somehow made frequent get togethers with ppl to avoid loneliness

Last One Year:

1. Flew to US to make money and see places...missed all my friends. My career is not going the way i think. Though i can make frnds in my work and really have few of my good frnds with me..i felt a bit lonely:-(. Have become more thoughtful and occupied. Realised how far an Idle mind can think...

2. Wow!! i drive a car now...never ever imagined i will do it on an American road. And i cook as well...experimentation unlimited...was sooo creative to make egg poriyal with dates...and sambar with grapes in place of tomato...

3. Roamed around lots of places in America...Trips have become a hideouts from work...weekends were really meant to live..:-)

4. Lots of sopistication... money... long weekend trips... weekend movies...bowling...poker...high sppend internet..everything i have but without my good frnds with me:-(

5. Mobile phone, computer became my very good friends...

One Hr Back:

1. Just got up from bed as i slept only at 12pm after giving sendoff to Divya and Saravanan(my roomie)...wished to go back with them to India:-((

2. Felt really hungry as i havent taken anything for B'fast and Lunch...had two frozen parathas and one corn..

3. Sitting all alone in my home and was happy to see ramji's response to devvi's tag...Thought of writing something

4. Missed all of my friends..wish my college to be eternal instead of just four years..

5. My heart kept thinking if i will have atleast few of my friends till my very end...decided to do something else (sleep again?) before my thoughts make me feel real bad...

6. Decided to take bath finally and to hear songs from the movie Pattiyal on my new Bose Speakers:-)

4. Moranam..my native village...i want to go there when the fields are green

My Sweet Computer

Blog is so wonderful to read..but when it come to writing it, i have no idea where to start with...

Apart from the reason that i want to kill the time that i have with me , i want to blog to look back to the wonderful moments i carry with me where ever i go. My days have been so wonderful when i was there with my friends never thinking about what i will be doing in the forthcoming days...but now life has changed a lot...i just have a mobile phone and a stupid computer to talk to my friends and family...So whenever i get a message "Your call cannot be completed at this time", i got no one else to talk except this computer. So thats why i Blog :-)
